Personality:
Extremely shy, she dislikes meeting new people to the point where if she talks to a stranger, while she appears to be calm on the outside, it's like she's having a panic attack on the inside. This is partially because she is a naturally timid person and partly because of being raised in a monastery - making her somewhat of a hikikomori , but she is trying to change because she thinks being able to interact with others is a necessary skill to have, even though social relationships outside of family aren't important to her.

She is very compassionate, even with people she can't stand, which annoys her. She hates most physical activity, and can be so lazy that if it wasn't an automatic reflex, she'd be too lazy to breathe. Most innuendos go over her head. Because her family is matriarchal, she doesn't have much respect for men in terms of power, and is usually against gender biased activities. People are suprised because she swears...A LOT. She can get easily distracted by things she deems cute, even when she's working or when she's in a fight.

Background [WIP, SUBJECT TO CHANGE]:
After Mitsuhide slayed Oda Nobunaga*, the Akechi clan was branded as a traitorous family, and the Shogunate ordered for their decimation. They went into hiding by forming a Tendai Bhuddhist monastery: Kan'eiji. Ironically, the Tokugawa became major patrons for Kan'eji, which meant that the Akechi had to be even more vigilant to hide their identity. The Akechi developed a powerful military force, and many participated in the war against the Amanto.

Tsubasa is the second oldest of 4 siblings. She was born prematurely, which has somewhat affected her health, and she was raised in the monastery. Near the end of the war, Tsubasa's mother hid Sakamoto Tatsuma*, before he went off into space. Some Amanto attacked the temple, and Tsubasa was kidnapped and sold to the Chidori; at the request of a mysterious benefactor, she became the subject of genetic experiments using Yato blood. Mutsu tried to help her, but couldn't do much against her father. A year later, Sakamoto rescues Tsubasa, and returns her to Kan'eiji. Her mother asked Gengai to create a device that supresses the effects of the experiments, but it's still under development.

Once she grows up, Tsubasa leaves home, as it's time for her to go on her spiritual pilgrimage. She doesn't get far, as she meets Gintoki* and ultimately starts working for the Yorozuya. The residents of Kabukicho refer to her as the "Neko Jo'ou" or Cat Queen as she helps to take care of the stray cats.

 
Relationships:
Gintoki - the first thing she fell in love with was his hair. She'd do anything for Gin-chan because he gave her hope, something she thought that she believed she wouldn't ever have again.
Sakamoto - from his time at the monastery, they developed a sibling relationship. Calls him "Chamanosuke" or "Motetaro".
Mutsu - considers her to be an older sister because Mutsu tried to help her in the past.
Matsudaira - "Tou-chan", she came to know him when the Tokugawa family would come to train at the monastery.
Kuriko - her first love and best friend, she supports Kuriko's love for Toushi.
Akechi clan - her family is the one of most important things to her; there isn't enough words to describe how much they mean.
Kirinaga* - ???

Trivia:
-Her favourite food is pickles, particularly nukazuke (the more sour, the better~)
-She uses manners, even when she's swearing
-She can't retain heat well so she is always leeching heat from others
-She wants to be a mom to a human someday
-She doesn't handle stress well, but in such situations will try to imitate Gin-chan (mantra: "Dead fish, dead fish, dead fish!")
-She likes to sleep, but has bad sleeping habits
-She hates to be called by her first name
-She has a complex about her height

Notes
[0] Longshoreman mouth is what my mom uses to describe my potty mouth (gawd, it's like I have Tourettes, I can swear so badly!)
[1] Mitsuhide's reasons for the Honnou-ji Incident are historically unclear, but it will tie in with Tsubasa's story arc...somehow.
[2] Sakamoto's ancestor was Akechi "Sama-no-suke" Hidemitsu, who was Mitsuhide's adopted son. Tsubasa is about 5-7 years old at the kidnapping.
[3] I haven't figured out how she meets Gin-chan yet, which is why the description is so vague.
